audiovisual sector**: A focus on the film & television industry as an
engine for economic growth, employment and development in Latin America.
Reports and discussion on the status of film production in key countries;
Co-production incentives and agreements, relevant legislation, government
film industry agencies, position of US majors, international trends; data
on co-productions in Latin America. Panelists to be invited will include:

organizations (PBS Latino, Focus Features, Ford Foundation) and
Government Organizations (European- Ibermedia, Fonds Sud, Latin
American–INCAA, ANCINE, IMCINE, etc) that finance films.

2:00pm –Distribution/ The international marketplace for Latin American
Films – Meet the exhibitors, distributors that distribute Latin American
films; including Landmark, Fox Home Video, HBO Latino, Venevision.
2:30pm–
4:00pm: Marketing and Festival Strategy of Latin American Films in the US
& Abroad – Learn the marketing techniques used by American distributors
in the United States and the festival strategy that distributors follow
in order to pick up films. Moderator: Max Alvarez, Film Historian

Noon – Seminar on how to use the latest script writing & budgeting tools:
Learn how to go from idea to synopsis, treatment to script using the
latest software. Also learn how to pitch your stories to distributors.

2:00pm – Technical Demonstrations: – Learn about the newest video cameras
and other production and post-production systems, softwares, and services
with demonstrations. Including: Kodak, Avid Express, Final Cut Pro, cost
of 35mm vs. video (HD, Digi-Beta, etc)
2:30pm –
4:00pm: Legal and Financial Clinic: A panel of Legal (music, copyright,
etc), financial, production, post-production experts answer specific
questions from the audience.
