Volunteers are the backbone of any Festival’s program and we value your time and interest. The Latin American Film Festival has been recognized for its great contribution to the Hispanic filmmaking arts at the local, national and international levels and without volunteers, this contribution could not have happened.

Established by Gláucia Baena Soares, to preserve and promote extraordinary selections of films from countries of the hemisphere and to expose the North American population to Latin-American Filmmaking and culture through the presentation of a unique world filmmaking. Since its founding, LAFF has produced over 7 festival’s edition and has provided a diverse program of films selections (from classical to contemporary), to a wide audience.

LAFF is a multi-use facility with season consisting of many events during the festival and conference at the OAS and the AFI at the Kennedy Center and Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. The facility is also host to diverse community cultural groups, and each of Festival’s events and productions require volunteers, and what better way to see quality entertainment than to be that Volunteer? has produced over 100 plays in Spanish and English.

How Will I Know What To Do?

When you arrive, the Volunteer Coordinator will instruct you on festival’s policy and procedure. After you get your assigned post, you need to familiarize yourself with the venues. Knowing the area will not only help during the initial audience seating but will be very important when you assign patrons when the event begins. LAFF will host an official Volunteers Orientation two weeks before the festival’s opening. This meeting will be for all general volunteer and will include a full tour of all areas of the Festival. We feel that the more informed you are the better you will be able to serve our patrons and answer any questions they may have. You are free to leave the event if another volunteer comes to replace you. If you choose to do so but please let the Volunteer Coordinator know you are leaving and sign out.
