"A word loaded with power, and the Earth will begin to change." In a
remote village in the 30s, all orders from the Supreme Chief come by
telegraph, and bigwig's wastrel son Rolando Padilla takes whatever
woman he wants. But then the new telegrapher arrives enigmatic
white-suited Iván Tamayo (CARACAS AMOR Y MUERTE, '01 fest) as
"Gabriel" and everything starts to change. Striking sound design and
musical score highlight this fable-like debut film from TV director
Luis Manzo, adapted from the novel by Arturo Uslar Pietri.
"Una palabra cargada de poder y la Tierra comenzará a cambiar". En
un pueblo remoto en la década de los años 30, todas las órdenes del
Supremo Jefe llegan por telégrafo y el derrochador y acicalado hijo
Rolando Padilla toma a la mujer que quería. Entonces llega el nuevo
encargado del telégrafo, el enigmático Iván Tamayo (CARACAS AMOR Y
MUERTE, festival de 2001), siempre vestido de blanco como "Gabriel",
y todo comienza a cambiar. Sorprendente diseño del sonido y la
partitura musical ponen de relieve esta película con estilo de
fábula que constituye el debut del director de TV Luis Manzo;
adaptación de la novela de Arturo Uslar Pietri.
