Long ago in the small town of San Jorge,
repression mounts along with the preparations for Carnival. Then
12-year-old Abril Scheiber must watch as her telegrapher father is
carted away by the authorities; and must watch again as mom Mimi
Lazo must take tough and unforgivable? decisions for their own
survival, including accepting a tortured, passionate relationship
with her husband's jailor, sleazy military chief Luis Felipe Tovar.
But the fever of Carnival brings everything to a cataclysmic
conclusion in this poignant and painful coming-of-age story.
Largo tiempo atrás en el pequeño pueblo de San
Jorge, la represión aumenta junto con los preparativos del Carnaval.
Luego la niña de 12 años Abril Scheiber debe ver cómo su padre es
detenido y llevado por las autoridades; y debe observar, también
cómo su madre Mimí Lazo debe tomar difíciles ¿e imperdonables?
decisiones para su propia supervivencia, incluso aceptando una
torturada y apasionada relación con el carcelero de su esposo, el
ruin jefe militar Luis Felipe Tovar. Pero la fiebre del Carnaval
conduce todo a un final catastrófico en esta historia dolorosa que
