Lima, 1618, and veteran of the European wars Diego Bertie, returning in search of his Indian mother to prove his legitimacy, finds himself in big trouble with both Church and State-even as nun Jimena Lindo, who surreptitiously writes poetry, finds herself sheltering a wounded fugitive, while Jesuit Orlando Sacha, charged with stamping out idolatry, ends up on the track of them both. Corre el año 1618 y en Lima, un veterano de las guerras europeas -Diego Bertie- regresa a buscar a su madre indígena para probar su legitimidad, pero encuentra grandes problemas con la Iglesia y el Estado. Por otra parte, la monja Jimena Lindo, que escribe poesía furtivamente, ofrece amparo a un fugitivo herido, y el jesuita Orlando Sacha, conocido como extirpador de idolatrías, termina cruzándose en su camino.
