This project aims to improve the countries' technical ability to assimilate, adapt, design and generate innovations in techniques and procedures in the area of microelectronics and data processing and to apply those techniques and procedures in industrial modernization and in the solution of social problems.
The following regional activities were conducted, all at the postgraduate level: Regional Course on Design using Artificial Intelligence; First Regional Seminar on Advanced Automation; Introductory Course on the Configuration and Manufacture of Tanner Integrated Circuits; support to the Regional Course on Configuration Methods and the Technology of the Manufacture of (Tanner) Integrated Circuitry; Regional Seminar on Microsensors: Technology and Applications; First Regional Course on Semiconductors and Integrated Circuits of Gallium Arsenide; Subregional Course on ASIC's Configuration for the Caribbean; Course on VHDL-based Computer Configuration; support to the International Seminar on Microelectronics and Telecommunications; support to the II Microelectronics Workshops; Seminar/Workshop on Industrial Applications of Networked Computer Systems; support for the Meeting of the National Microelectronics Consortium of Colombia, with businesses participating. Configuration courses have been taken over by national consortia of universities and centers sponsored by the project. Expert Latin American researchers and engineers working in private enterprise and laboratories in industrialized countries have provided their services for the training activities. Almost all the regional activities offered under the Multinational Project on Microelectronics and Data Processing are co-sponsored by one of the CYTED projects. Thanks to the CYTED's cooperation, the centers have been able to put together integrated circuit prototypes in Spain, as part of genuine cooperation between the configuration centers and local industry.
The institutions participating in the project have also conducted numerous activities.
