The purpose of this project is to support research, development, transfer and adaptation of technology in order to discover new behaviors and uses for traditional materials and to develop new and original materials to serve certain purposes; to train high level human resources and to study trends in the area of materials technology.
The following regional activities were carried out: a Coordination Meeting; the First Pan American School on Materials; the Third Congress of the Latin American Metallurgy and Materials Association (ALAMET); the Seventh Latin American Pulp and Paper Congress; the Pan American Course on Transformation Metallurgy; a Seminar/Workshop on Alternative Construction Materials, and Improvement of Rural Habitat.
A number of activities being carried out by institutions participating in the multinational project also continued.
