TRAINING AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

This includes courses, seminars and workshops on various issues related to regional development and environmental management, all of which are targeted at the technicians and specialists affiliated with the institutions that deal with these issues, mainly government institutions.

Under the OAS/CIDIAT Inter-American Program, a number of activities were conducted. A seminar-workshop on "Analyzing Methods for Integrated Management of International Watersheds" was held in Caracas, Venezuela. At the center's headquarters in Merida, two short inter-American courses were conducted on "Evaluating Environmental Impacts on Investment Projects" and "Managing Solid Waste in Urban Areas." The OAS/CIDIAT Program cooperated with the course on "Environmental Impact on Projects in Irrigation, Drainage and Reclamation or Rehabilitation of Land for Beekeeping" under the IDB/CIDIAT Technical Cooperation Program.

Barquisimeto, Venezuela was the site of the Seminar-Workshop on "Regionalization and Economic Change: A Comparative Perspective on Latin America", organized in conjunction with the Development Foundation of the West Central Region of Venezuela.
