With support from the Plurinational Project on Creating Business and Generating Employment (Latin American Module), Lima, Peru, was the site of the International Seminar on Globalization and Competitiveness in Small Business, with a special panel devoted to technological development in small- and medium-size businesses and to the technological advances in data processing.
The Department contributed to the establishment of the National Standards Board in Saint Lucia. Support has been provided to the Board's industrial assistance program on quality control services and on conducting microbiology training programs and activities. Also conducted were a Seminar on Quality Control in Industry, a course on the ISO 9000 Quality Control Series and a seminar on the role executives play in "Total Quality Management" (TQM).
