Courses on International Law

The Course on International Law is an event organized annually since 1973 by the [Inter-American Juridical Committee] and the Secretariat for Legal Affairs (SLA) of the Organization of American States. The length of this Course is four weeks and takes place in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, every August.

The Course on International Law has a different main topic every year and constitutes an opportunity to promote the exchange of ideas and to generate an open dialogue about issues of particular relevance in the area of international Law. Nearly 25 professors from America and Europe participate during the four weeks.

The OAS offers annually 30 scholarships for young professionals from all OAS member States with a degree on international law or international relations. The announcement to apply for scholarships is published every year by November before the beginning of the Course. The requirements are included in the announcement.
