▪ Courses on International Law
The Course on International Law is an event organized
annually since 1973 by the [Inter-American Juridical
Committee] and the Department of International
Law of the Secretariat for Legal Affairs (SLA) of the
Organization of American States. Currently, the length of
this Course is three weeks, and it takes place in the city
of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, every August.
The Course on International Law has a different main topic
every year and constitutes an opportunity to promote the
exchange of ideas and to generate an open dialogue about
issues of particular relevance in the area of international
Law. Several prestigious professors from the Americas and
Europe participate giving lectures during the Course.
The OAS offers annually scholarships for young professionals
from all OAS member States with a degree on international
law or international relations. The announcement to apply
for scholarships is published every year before the
beginning of the Course. The requirements are included in
the announcement.
